The use of stone is a great way to create a naturally beautiful home. Although there are many different stones that people use as tile, travertine tiles are one such great option. There are many wonderful things about travertine and also some facts to keep in mind for maintenance.

Many don’t know what makes travertine different than other stones. This type of stone is what forms stalactites and stalagmites in limestone caves. Marble is a natural limestone that is formed over many years through pressure in the ground. T 111 siding was used very frequently on homes built in the 70’s and 80’s because of the ease and the fact that T 111 siding prices were lower than wood or other siding options. The siding itself is not as durable as other options, because is not very weather proof. It is untreated, and the only protection it has against the weather and moisture is the paint covering. When there is too much moisture, rain, or water, or even heat, the siding delaminates. Once this starts to happen, your problems will start to multiply. As the problem worsens, you can run into now having to deal with water intrusion and mold problems, which will eventually lead to accelerated rotting. The rotting can happen if not taken care of quickly because the siding pulls away from the house allowing the water to seep behind the siding panels. Inspect the siding frequently to assess for areas where delaminating has started. If caught soon, the siding can be replaced before the rotting occurs.
