Natural stones bring a beauty into your home that otherwise you can’t find, and many times is chosen to be incorporated by using it as flooring-since it is something that is always seen. Common types of stone used are travertine, limestone, slate, and marble tiles. Of these choices, marble tile is one of the most durable and popular choices. Marble comes from metamorphic rocks, and has been used frequently as the prime choice for sculptures. Also, because of the durability, marble is used in ways such as commercial applications, housing flooring, bathroom floors and back-splashes, kitchen floors and countertops, hallways, and other high traffic areas. Even at only 10 millimeters thick, marble floor tiles are more durable than other man-made flooring options, especially compared to travertine that needs to me at least 3 centimeters thick for flooring in areas of high traffic. It is very common to see marble floor tile in the bathroom and kitchen areas.

Marble tile comes in multiple colors such as black, white, grey, blue, and beige. Black marble tile is one of the most commonly used. It is very commonly used as kitchen countertops because of the ease of cleaning and the exquisite look it brings to the room. The black color provides a very classy appearance and can be combined with other colored tiles, either neutral or white. While black polishes up to a brilliant shine, it will show dust and dirt easier than other colors such as white. White marble is also very common. It is a great color: it stays looking very clean and radiant, and it is great to put with other colors that are bright or neutral. While black is harder to keep looking clean, cleaning the stone tiles is very easy. Just having warm, soapy water and a sponge will clean the tile very well. There are special stone cleaners you can purchase if desired as well.

Another popular choice for tile is a tumbled marble tile. Tumbling the marble creates a different look than the regular tiles because of how it is made. Tumbling involves taking broken pieces of tiles, then placing them into a tumbler that has an abrasive that smooths the surface and edges of the pieces. As the tumbler continues to slowly rotate, the pieces continue to be smoothed out. Tumbled marble is commonly used as back-splashes in the kitchen and bathroom, flooring, and outside for landscaping in your garden or a patio. Tumbling gives the tile a more antique look, and is a great way to accent other tiles being used. With these many choices in color, finish, and sizes, it’s easy to find something you would love to come home to every day.
These variations give marble a very distinct quality and look. When marble floor tile is processed it is cut into the individual tiles and because of the way the stone is formed there are variations from tile to tile in pattern and slightly shade. After the stone it cut and polished it is checked for any small fissures in the stone that could affect its structural integrity. Drying the tiles is important because marble spot easily. Also before mopping the tile it is important to vacuum or sweep the area to be cleaned so none of the dirt and grime on the floor gets rubbed in to scratch the surface of the tile. Some other tips to make the tile go longer between cleanings is take off your shoes when entering the house and also wear socks when walking on the tiles as the oils in your feet can also dirty the tile.

Marble can not only be used for flooring and other common household coverings, but it is still also used for an artistic appeal in many situations.
